Fantastically Formative Books of Early Adulthood
I am a writer, an author, and a reader. I almost added the word “avid” before reader; but I can’t claim that anymore because, as I’ve delved deeper into my world of writing, I find I’ve read less and less, not for lack of wanting, but because there are only so many hours in a day. For me, these hours are filled with the pen, with imaginings and world building, with music creating, and with horses, husband, home, and family. But there was a time when reading was integral in my formation and development. Very very important. Realizing everyone has their own tastes, I’d like to share a few of my favorites - some very well known, some not - that were unendingly powerful in their influence within and without my life. Some have received awards, some not. Some are literary, most not. All different genres and all wonderful. In my heartfelt opinion, a book’s worth and merit has very little to do with awards and notoriety and everything to do with the lives they touch, be it one or one million. These have touched me. What has touched you? Cherish them whatever they may be, for books give us our own unique wings to fly ANYWHERE we choose, to learn countless lessons about ourselves, inside and out. Thank you, books (and authors).
